Meet Tapta and Donald Judd, two artists of the same generation who, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each redefined sculpture through their innovative use of industrial materials. Discover a little-known aspect of one of the leading figures of Belgian modern art in Jean Brusselmans: The Artist at Work, an exhibition inviting visitors to follow the artist’s creative process at close range. Explore The Americans: Part III, a monumental collage inspired by the American way of life, in which Saul Steinberg gives full rein to his extraordinary imagination.

24.09 2026 > INNER LANDSCAPES. ANTO CARTE AND GUSTAVE VAN DE WOESTYNE, van Buuren Museum
This exhibition brings together the works of two artists who left a lasting mark on Belgian painting in the early twentieth century. Gustave Van de Woestyne, a leading figure of Flemish Symbolism, and Anto Carte, an Expressionist deeply rooted in the rural landscapes of Wallonia, share a common sensitivity: a fascination with the land, with the simple gestures of everyday life, and with the light that permeates silent landscapes. Displayed in dialogue within the intimate setting of the Van Buuren Museum, their works reveal a shared quest for an inner world and a discreet spirituality that emerges through every composition. 10.10 2026 > JEAN BRUSSELMANS. PAINTER BY NATURE
Starting in the twentieth century, Jean Brusselmans developed a bold and highly original artistic language, going against the prevailing trends of his time while remaining firmly rooted in the pictorial tradition. Bringing together nearly 120 works, the exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in his unique world, where abstraction and figuration come together. Dialogues with contemporaries such as Paul Cézanne, Fernand Léger and Piet Mondrian offer fresh perspectives on his work. This is the first major retrospective devoted to Brusselmans since 1980.

17.11 2026 > RUBENS, GOD OF PAINTING?
Nearly 450 years ago, on 28 June 1577, Peter Paul Rubens was born. Monumental altarpieces and religious scenes stand alongside portraits and preparatory sketches for vast mythological compositions in our collections. The works on display also features studies and designs for ceiling decorations and tapestries. Rubens’ collaborations with other artists, particularly Jan Brueghel I, are highlighted, while comparisons with fellow Baroque masters such as Anthony van Dyck and Jacob Jordaens shed light on the unique genius of Rubens.

03.12 2026 > BRUSSELS 1900 AT THE PETIT PALAIS & CÉZANNE AT THE GRAND PALAIS – PARIS
The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium invite Friends to discover, together with one of the exhibition curators, Brussels 1900, the exhibition they have co-produced with the Petit Palais in Paris. This major cultural event offers a fresh look at the Fin de Siècle and the creative energy of Brussels during the Belle Époque, highlighting the flourishing of Art Nouveau, painting, sculpture, furniture and decorative arts. At the Grand Palais, the exhibition Cézanne and Us offers a unique immersion into the work of Paul Cézanne, illustrating his profound influence on later artists including Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso.

We are delighted to take part once again in the celebration of contemporary art in Antwerp! A wonderful opportunity to rediscover this vibrant city.

16.01 2027 > ERASMUS. PRINCE OF THE HUMANISTS
A prolific writer, Erasmus published a vast number of works whose reflections, imbued with learning, wisdom and humanism, remain strikingly relevant today. During his itinerant life, Erasmus stayed in Brussels in a house that has stood the test of time. Let us journey back to the heart of the Renaissance and discover this remarkable place, together with the life of a thinker whose destiny gave little indication of the fame that awaited him.

BRAFA – the Brussels Art Fair – is one of Europe’s most prestigious art fairs, spanning Antiquity to modern and contemporary art.
Meeting point: 11:15 at Hall 4, Brussels Expo, Place de Belgique 1, 1020 Brussels. Admission, guided tour, a glass of champagne and one exhibition catalogue per two visitors included. Visit in French. 20 places available. Participation fee: €20.
REGISTRATION
The number of participants is limited. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept more registrations than the number of entrances on offer, even against payment.
However, in order to extend the access to our activities, the registration will be limited to 1 activity per person (2 for patron
members) for 20 days after the mailing of the booklet. After that date, the remaining entrances will be filled on the usual procedure, according to the dates of the registrations received. If you are interested in more than 1 visit, please list them according to your preferences. If you wish to participate in a More for Friends activity, please only register through moreforfriends@gmail.com.
Please indicate your name, surname, membership no. (you must have paid your membership fee at the date of the chosen activity). A mail of confirmation will allow you to participate at the activity. Contemporary Art circuit
Brussels boasts an exceptionally vibrant contemporary art scene, with galleries and museums both large and small. Last spring, Sophie Gods took us not only to the Upper Town, but also to the WIELS, the Vandenborght Space and the Marolles district. Where will we go this autumn and winter? No one knows – but one thing is certain: our guide will surprise us once again.

Attention ! In order to extend the access of these visits to more members, it has been decided to give priority, during the first 15 days following the mailing of the booklet, to the Friends who did not participate in the previous tour, i.e. during the winter-spring 2026 The registrations will be processed 15 days after the mailing of the booklet.
