20.02 2025 > INVITATION TO AN ARTISTIC ODYSSEY: OVID’S METAMORPHOSES AT THE RMFAB
Dive into a fascinating journey where mythology comes to life before your very eyes. The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Brussels invite you to discover masterpieces of ancient art, vibrant with emotion and timeless stories. Come and rediscover the stories that have inspired artists and poets for centuries, and that continue to fascinate and amaze us today.

15.03 2025 > GUIDED TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION “When we see us”, A CENTURY OF PAN-AFRICAN FIGURATIVE PAINTING
How have artists from Africa and its vast diaspora depicted everyday life over the last century? Koyo Kouoh, director and chief curator of Zeitz  MOCAA in Cape Town, and her team have attempted to answer this question by putting together an emblematic exhibition. Bozar is proud to present this broad kaleidoscope of pan-African figurative painting from the 1920s to the present day.
The title of the When We See Us exhibition, inspired by Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us series, reflects a fundamental perspective that explores the self-representation of Africans and Afro-descendants and their subjectivities on a global scale. The 150 or so works by around 120 artists are grouped into six themes: “The Everyday”, “Joy and Lightness”, “Rest”, “Sensuality”, “Spirituality” and “Triumph and Emancipation”. When we see us encourages discussion of black liberation and intellectual movements, and celebrates the experiences in Africa and the African diaspora that contribute to the canon of art history.

Meet at 10:45 am in the lobby of Bozar, rue Ravenstein 23, 1000 Brussels. 15 places available

Contemporary Art circuit

After an excellent season, Sophie Godts has agreed to continue introducing us to contemporary art in Brussels. We’re delighted, and look forward to new discoveries such as the Portuguese street artist Vhils at MIMA. MIMA has sadly closed its doors, but contemporary art is still very much alive in Brussels. It’s up to us to discover it, with Sophie’s help.

The format remains the same! 5 Saturdays in well-known and lesser-known art venues thatchange with each visit! We’ve selected Saturdays > 08.03, 29.03, 12.04, 24.05 & 14.06 2025 at 14:30

Please note! In order to extend access to these visits to more members, we have decided to give priority, during the 15 days following the dispatch of the booklets, to applications from Friends who have not taken part in the previous tour, i.e. the autumn-winter 2024 tour. Registrations will be processed a fortnight after the Carnet is sent out.

The cost is 120€ per person for the 5 Saturdays. Exclusively for Friends who have paid their membership fees. Registration is compulsory via moreforfriends@gmail.com Please wait for confirmation of your registration before making the payment.
